Unusual, But Lovely Recycled Planters

I think these are one of the simplest yet prettiest DIY projects I’ve come across lately. Not only are the materials practically free, but it’s stuff you probably would have thrown away after their useful life was up. Placed in the right setting recycled planters can make a very attractive and stylish statement.

Old Socks! How simple is that: you can use your old socks, cut them and “dress” your planter for a more cozy look in your room. Or get some spark with some vibrant colors and patterns, that will add cheer to any table. Can you imagine?

Using old tin containers to grow your succulents not only keeps them out of the landfill, but adds a little character to your plants and your table.

Mismatched china sets? No problem; use them to keep tiny succulents or tiny cacti and create a little tea cup garden.

Help keep those soda bottles out of the landfill, instead use them to hold your herb plants. Ok, this one isn’t very pretty but it’s really interesting. Plus these soda bottle recycled planters will house enough herbs to feed an army!

I love these rainboot planters, what a great way to reuse your kid’s old rain boots once they outgrow them. Learn how to hang them.

Changing out old light fixtures? Don’t throw then away, use them as a planter instead. Learn how to make these cool light fixture planters.

Isn’t this absolutely gorgeous? No words…

I thought this one was so cool when I saw it. Not only will your plants be fashionable but they’ll be comfy too in their own purse planters!

Yeah, I know this one is a bit over the top, but I thought I’d throw it in anyway. This jean jacket planter could make a bold statement and will definitely be a conversation piece at your next party.

As you can see, the sky’s the limit on what you can create just using your imagination. So next time you’re going to throw or donate something that has lost it’s use, try to imagine it as something else. You may just get inspired and give that object a second life.

Well, I got so inspired by some of these that I decided to try my hand at two (not shown). So you’ll just have to stay tuned. Yay, can’t wait to get started!!!
