DIY Greenhouse from Recycled Items

I will present you how I’m doing my greenhouse from recycled items when spring is close. I originally saw the idea for doing the toilet paper tubes on Pinterest and decided to tweak it a bit and make the greenhouse portion as well. I really like this project because it was fast, inexpensive and reused items.

What you will need:

  • Plastic container {rotisserie chicken, cake container etc.}
  • Toilet paper tubes
  • Potting soil/seed starting soil
  • Seeds

Step 1
Cut the toilet paper tubes in half, and place them in the bottom of your plastic container. I used a rotisserie chicken container I had in the recycling bin. The container had a flat bottom and a nice high clear plastic dome, which would allow the plants a good amount of time to grow in the greenhouse before they became too tall.
Step 2
Spoon your growing medium of choice into each toilet paper tube. This medium was Jiffy seed starting mix, I was given a couple bags of it so that’s what I used.
Step 3
Place a seed in each compartment, cover and water.

Step 4
Place the lid on, put in the sun and watch your seeds grow!
This is what I had a week later! The paper tube will break down so you can plant it in the garden just as it is!
